Glass Pear Media offers finer filtration than any other alternatives, providing outstanding water purity and clarity (filtration below 3 microns). This media also requires 20 per cent less water for backwashing compared to sand.

If you are looking for a sand filter change or have a new installation swapping over your media to our glass pearls will provide significant benefits. This is a more expensive option but the payback in terms of water quality and longevity far outweighs the extra cost.

This exceptional capability allows it to eliminate approximately 50% more organic substances from water compared to sand and other glass filter media. 

AFM® serves as a direct substitute for sand, effectively doubling the performance of sand filters.

AFM® is a meticulously engineered product made from a specific type of glass, which is processed to achieve the ideal particle size and shape. Subsequently, it undergoes a 3-step activation process that enhances its surface area by up to 300 times, resulting in superior mechanical and electro-static filtration performance. The activated surface of AFM® possesses self-sterilising properties that inhibit bacteria mud-balling, coagulation, and the channelling of unfiltered water through the filter bed. The activation process increases the surface area by up to 300 times, facilitating catalysis and adsorption reactions.
