Understanding Pump Affinity Laws

Understanding pump affinity laws will allow you to explain, demonstrate and calculate how a change in motor speed impacts;

• flow rates against resistance

• power consumption

• operating costs

1. The change in flow is proportionate (equal) to the change in speed. If we halve the speed we halve the flow

2. The change in pressure is equal to the speed change factor squared. Operating pressure will be 1/4 of the original pressure

3. The change in power consumption is equal to the speed change factor cubed. Power consumption will be 1/8 the original consumption

As an example, if we take a pump with the following characteristics:

• Motor speed: 2850 rpm

• Flow rate: 302 lpm

• Pressure: 8 metres head

• Power input: 983 Watts

We set the low speed at 1900 rpm – a reduction factor of 0.67 - 1900 ÷ 2850 = 0.67 Applying the factor 0.67 to all pump affinity laws we can determine the pumps operating characteristics at the new speed on 1900 rpm.

1. The change in flow is proportionate (equal) to the change in speed. 302 x 0.67 = 202 lpm

2. The change in pressure is equal to the speed change factor squared. 8 x 0.67 x 0.67 = 3.6 metres head

3. The change in power consumption is equal to the speed change factor cubed. 983 x 0.67 x 0.67 x 0.67 = 295 watts

Therefore, the pump has these new low speed operating characteristics:

• Motor speed: 1900 rpm

• Flow rate: 202 lpm

• Pressure: 3.6 metres head

• Power input: 295 watts

Understanding Pump Affinity Laws

Understanding pump affinity laws will allow you to explain, demonstrate and calculate how a change in motor speed impacts;

Therefore, the pump has these new low speed operating characteristics:

• Motor speed: 1900 rpm

• Flow rate: 202 lpm

• Pressure: 3.6 metres head

Understanding Pump Affinity Laws

Understanding pump affinity laws will allow you to explain, demonstrate and calculate how a change in motor speed impacts;

Understanding Pump Affinity Laws

Understanding pump affinity laws will allow you to explain, demonstrate and calculate how a change in motor speed impacts;

Built in Wi-Fi allows simple control of the heat pump, where ever you are.

Now, you really can have both quiet running and all year heating, in an extremely competitively price heat pump. Even if you do not need all year heating having a swimming pool heat pump that has the ability to run with an effective COP at low temperatures means the Aquax Inverter Heat Pump will allow you to heat an outdoor pool, both economically and quickly, at the beginning and end of the season, normally the hardest times to keep the pool warm

PRODUCT INFO:

garden pac Aquax swimming pool heat pump price match beat promise guarantee h2ofun 21kw AquaX Inverter Swimming Pool Heat Pumps are genuinely the quietest Heat Pumps in the UK. The latest models have built in WIFI and as The Aquax Inverter Heat Pumps have a, virtually, silent compressor they are 10 times quieter than other inverter heat pumps.

AquaX Inverter 21kw Swimming Pool Heat Pumps really are "All Year Round" heating, for this changing World, working down to -15 degrees C and heating water to 40°C.

The AquaX Inverter heat pumps can save energy by controlling the pool filtration pump, turning it On & Off intelligently, according to the heating requirement of the pool. With the pump running only when needed noise is reduced as well as running costs, whilst always maintaining the desired pool temperature.

AquaX 21kw Inverter Swimming Pool Heat Pumps are powered by Twin-Rotary DC Inverter Compressors. Based on the "Twin Mechanism" principle, two rotors operate together to balance the torque to stop most of the shaking created by normal compressors. This results in the highest efficiency, very low vibration and ultimately extremely quiet operation.

The AquaX Inverter Heat Pumps come with Digital controls for easy operation and accurate pool temperature setting, a Titanium Heat Exchanger to protect against Chlorine or Salt in the pool water, a "Soft Start" on all Models which reduces the power required when turning the units on and a 7 Year Compressor & Heat Exchanger warranty, which is unmatched elsewhere.

If you are looking for a sand filter change or have a new installation swapping over your media to our glass pearls will provide significant benefits. This is a more expensive option but the payback in terms of water quality and longevity far outweighs the extra cost.

At only 0.6mm by 0.8mm in size, the narrow particle size of the Glass Pearls enables in-depth superior filtration. The spherical shape also results in low friction levels, also reducing the need to backwash and saving pool owners both time and precious water.
